About Us

Formed in 1972, Delk’s Army-Navy Surplus Store was started by Dempsey Delk and his wife, Anna Delk. They would head down to Fort Brgg, Camp Lejeune and other miltary installations in the North Carolina area and come back with a flatbed filled with military surplus gear and supplies. Often their bundled lots were a surprise and could yield any and everything from shovels and rope to lanterns and ammunition boxes to foot lockers, gun parts and duffle bags and so much more!

Delk’s Army-Navy Surplus, like many family run outfits, started small but went through several expansions over the years to end up with the current 16,000 square foot structure west of Asheboro, built in 1994, it currently houses and sells military colthing and belts, shelving, racks, shovels, patches, machetes, knives, cots, tarps, duffel bags, camouflage netting, ghillie suits, tents, gun parts, compasses and so much more. The store is just fascinating to walk through and really a great place for outdoor enthusists, hunters and campers alike to find many items of great use.

After the passing of Anna in 2008 and Dempsey in 2012, the business continued to flouish under brothers William and Frank. William passed in 2018 and is now under the guidance Frank and his wife Tammy. With the passing if Dempsey & William, Frank doesn’t buy much large mechanical surplus anymore but can certainly fill the need if someone is looking for larger items.
